THE HEALING POWER OF NATURE
Essential oils being the active ingredients of plants, are very powerful. They not only help our body, but also our mind. Aromatic plants and other natural substances make fabulous spiritual essences. They have fantastic properties for calming, uplifting, enhancing concentration and energizing.

Aromatherapy
.
We can use essential oils in burners and candles. This is one of the fastest ways for the small molecules of plants to enter our olfactory system. The health stimulating information is sent to the olfactory bulb and from there to the hypothalamus and part of the brain, where emotions are felt. That is why different smells affect our mood.
Plants and their essential oils can have lots of different properties, such us: Anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-depressant, aphrodisiac and many others. .
My passion
My passion for plants has its beginning in The Netherlands where plants and flowers make this country so beautifully colorful!
There I had my first formal study about plants. I went to the agricultural school for two years, known at that time as the Groene Delta, now Wellantcollege and obtained my Diploma for Flower Artistry. My passion has also a deeper root instilled by my mother Gladys Gomez, who had a flower decoration and events business. Moreover, my grandmother Flor de Gomez was an active healer, making almost all her remedies from plants.
My inquisitive heart just feel in love with the healing power of plants. This led me to an introductory course in natural medicine in London, where I spend a year learning about herbalism, aromatherapy, homeopathy and Bach flowers. I was very lucky and privileged to be taught by one of the best herbalist, Christopher Hedley. In Neal’s Yard I could enjoy the best teachers - they gave me wonderful tools for every possible healing method.
My Experience
I’ve been teaching about aromatherapy and how to use essential oils for beginners since 2005.
In 2015 I started my Youtube channel
* LA VENTANA DE TATE *
* TATE’S WINDOW*
Through this channel I like to share my experience and teachings. My first teacher - my grandmother - gave me some of her recipes, although sometimes I wish I had a small window to ask her about her knowledge. This is the reason for my window, lovingly my family and friends call me Tate.
My latin background makes spanish my mother tongue. I absolutely love languages and learn them by hearing. I lived in London as a teenager, and later married my husband, who is Swiss. This brought swiss german in my life!
My husband is a geologist, so we lived and worked around the world for 30 years. I was blessed and privileged having adventurous journeys together learning about other cultures and languages. This is also part of my inspiration!
Learning - My Passion
Experience through continuous learning during 30 years while living around the world.
It was certainly a challenge, but more importantly a great privilege. Our travels allowed me to develop my knowledge and interests at organizations leading in their fields around the world. Many of these institutes are combining existing knowledge and wisdom, with new ideas and technology.
In 1996, when I did my Diploma in Floral Artistry in Holland, I had to become proficient in Dutch, since the courses, such as history of art, accounting and business administration were all tested in Dutch.
I’m also a big fan of everything to do with beauty or taking care of my skin. This led me to studying Beauty Therapy in Qatar at Tajmeel Academy supported by ITEC and CIBTAC. As if chemistry from the plants wasn’t enough, I did the Diploma for Facial Electrical. This is also one of my passions - Facial Electrical stimulation-, where I developed a special interest in the healing power of Microcurrent.
I was also very privileged to have lived in Brisbane Australia, where I received my Diploma in Massage Therapy at The Australian Institute.
Your CANDLES Naturally
I started making candles as a hobby 44 years ago. Coming from a craft passionate family, we always tried to make everything ourselves.
Having 6 grandchildren makes me almost like a magician producing crafts and teaching them. Christmas 2020, my 4 year old granddaughter Victoria asked me to make candles with her. She absolutely enjoyed it and was very proud when I included the beautiful cupcakes candles in the Christmas baskets for our medical doctors. My two children had a sparkle in their eyes when they saw them, and said I remember making candles with you Mum.
I had forgotten how beautiful and meaningful candles are. I made candles while living in Egypt for my shop in 1998, I used the bottom of plastic bottles for my floating candles. Yes, I love recycling! I wish I can do my new candles with as much loving intention and respect for the environment.
I’m currently living at a gorgeous place in the Swiss alps. I love walking in nature here, so my inspiration for my candles come from Engelberg. Meaning Engel’s mountain.
With love, Elizabeth Schwander
